Unhappy O2 CMN - Is there a cheat sheet?

Hello,

I am new to HME, and I'm sorting through the CMN(s) we have on file to get them straightened out. Problem is, it's creating more work for my doctor's offices, calling me with questions.

I've read the LCD about a hundred times, and it seems like it's open to interpretation.

The main question I get is how much documentation needs to be in the patient's chart regardless of the CMN recert dates. Is it once a year?

The CMN(s) we have on file now, continually use the original test date even on recerts.

Thanks in advance!!! Crystal

Crystal,

It is once a year, if there is no change to the patient status within that year. If your patient has a hospital stay(changing dx), or there is a break in billing (or service >60 days), you will need to have new and updated testing on file with Medicare.

Utilize your revision dates for any changes. CMNs have to be updated after 12 months, and a revision does not necessarily change the recert date.
