Default Home Health Orders

OK, I had a wild call from the director of a Home Health Agency that we do a lot of business with complaining about us getting signatures on their orders. Here is the senario and I would like to know how everyone else handles these. We get a order from the Home Health Agency on their Physician Order forms that they took the VO on. We fill the order and then fax that Order they sent over to the ordering doctor with our cover sheet stating that the company wanted us to fill this order for their patient please sign, date and fax back. After we get it back we bill the Insurance. Is there something wrong with doing this that I'm not aware of? How does everyone else handle things like this? Do you put your own order form out to the doctor to sign and send back? I'm at a loss since they said if I do that anymore (which I have been for two years now) they won't send me orders.

We fax our our own form for completion. We check off the items and ask them to complete the rest. Usually any VO form provided to us does not contain all required information, isn't legible, etc.

Default Home Health Orders

We put the order on our own form and have Dr sign that.

Maybe the director is concerned about you having the Dr signing off on stuff
that's not relevant to DME/supplies???

Healthcare Management Solutions is a billing service specializing in DME equipment. Our procedures require that we generate a Physician Order Verification form for equipment or supplies ordered. This form is neat and orderly and contains the required elements of a valid physician order. The form is returned to the physician for signature and once returned, it is added to the patient file to complete documentation compliance. Feel free to contact me if I can provide additional information.

We follow the same as every one else here has posted. We generate our own physician order from our system and send it to the physician to be completed/signed along with a cover letter that it is in regards to the VO they gave such and such nurse at such and such HHA on (date).

I have always been under the impression that the VO from the HHA was just that. They may be getting slack from physician's who are complaining about having to sign them multiple times as HHA's send their verbals for signature, as well.
