Default Repair/Loaner billing

Can anyone help me with billing for repairs and loaner equipment? I have been trying to use the NHIC website, but most of the links seem to be broken. I want to make sure I'm doing it correctly, as I haven't done it in some time. Thanks!

Can I bill for a loaner? For how long? How much info do I need about the equipment being repaired- model # & date of purchase? These are CPAP & BiPap repairs- so what do I use for the misc codes? I feel so stupid, but I couldn't find enough info to jog my memory. Thanks!

Typically one month rental for a BiPAP or CPAP repair. You will need to use the narrative to explain the reason for the loaner.

Default Repair/Loaner billing

Regina,

I don't have experience billing for CPAP's but I do bill for loaner power
mobility. They may be very similar.

For pwc:
Can bill for one month rental (K0462) during repair for patient-owned
equipment. Cannot bill for repair during a rental period. Must include line
item narrative for each item billed.

Example:
Loaner (K0462): "Loan K0827 PWC Whle PtOwnd K0827 SN?) Being Rpr>1Day"

Labor (K0739): "Repair PtOwnd (HCPC)(MFG)(MODEL) SN?) Pur by (Who
Paid?)(MMM/YY)"

Replacement part for listed code (E2366): "Rpl Charger FRIED LaborUnits 2"

For misc. wheelchair parts, we have to use code K0108 and include a lot more
info: "Rpl(MFG NAME)(PART DESC.)(PART#)(MSRP$)(REASON FOR REPA
IR?)(LaborUnits ?)"

I have been told by noridian that the make/model/serial number are not
necessary when Medicare paid for the equipment, only when the equipment is
patient-owned and purchased by someone other than medicare. However, I
include them anyway.
