if a pt goes on hopisce in the middle of a mc billing cycle, is it acceptable to bill both and then drop the mc billing on the next service date

If they're on hospice on the rental date, you can't bill Medicare. You'll be
hard pressed to get hospice to pay you unless you have an agreement with
them.

If you have already billed Medicare for that month prior to pt. signing with hospice, I would start billing hospice at the first of the following month since you have already received payment from Medicare.
