Default multi-site supplier question

We are a supplier with one main site, but we will have new locations soon. My question is for those of you who are part of a supplier with multiple sites, how do you bill for those sites? Do you have to enroll the new site completely seperate from your current one or do you just update your current provider file with commerical plans to include your new location? Do you bill the different sites under the same name just different NPI? I know with medicare we had to enroll to get a seperate PTAN but I am unsure about commerical payers and how that works.

Default multi-site supplier question

Hey Kristin -

With third parties, we register our locations under one tax ID then break
out the different addresses w/ NPI's. Some third parties will assign us
different providers #'s (i.e... LNI, DSHS) some request we bill under one
assigned provider # (CHPW). Give them all the info and let them decide.

Thanks D! I didn't realize you guys had different sites. I broached the subject of adding a location with same tax id but different NPI to our provider file with our Regence provider rep, and she said she doesn't recommend we do that due to "potential provider pick issue to process the claim". I don't see how that would be an issue though since its the same contract, same payment method, same pay to, right?

One more thing-do you bill all sites with the same provider name?

HA! You're right that it doesn't seem like it'd be a problem but that
"provider pick" does cause problems :0
