Default Document Imaging

Was wondering what people's experiences have been with the various document imaging programs that are available (webscan, medforce, imagesoft, cabinet ng etc.). Can anyone make any recommendations?

Thanks!

We use DocStar. We have been using for over 3 years and have never had as much as a hiccup. It has all the features that are probably standard. What I would research is you backup features. We have 2 hard drives which mirror each other. So if one fails the other takes over until the failed hard drive is replaced and restored. We also backup on DVD-ROM and take off site.

Documents can be faxed or emailed from DocStar. Also, if we receive a documents via E-fax or E-mail it can imaged without printing it up. This not only saves time but paper and ink.

We scan our patient records, explanations of benefits (great for attaching Medicare EOBs to secondary claims), accounts payable, insurance contracts, human resources. Of course different employees have different access to which record they can view.

We use Knowledge Lake and it works well for us.
The time saved to run to look for files as well as the space we are saving make it invaluable.
There are many choices out there. This one seemed to be the best fit for us.
Good luck. You won't regret going this direction I can assure you.

We have been using MedForce for over 2 years and it is terrific and has greatly increased efficiency.

Just make sure what you pick is compatible with your primary software. We had to pay for a "data bridge" to MestaMed. Most of the newer software platforms don't require it. Now we're dumping MestaMed.

You may also want to look at PaperVision Enterprise by Digitech Systems, Inc. I've seen there software work in multiple verticals for Document Scanning and Document Management. You can see some of the features and functionality at http://www.centurydocumentimaging.com/papervision.asp
