Default Medicare Participation Status

Hello All,

I am sure this topic was discussed before but I can't seem to find the link for it. Anyway, it is that time of the year again to notify Medicare of your participation status. Is there an advantage (or disadvantage) of becoming or not becoming a Medicare participant? Thank you for your input. Nhan.

I always recommended not to sign a participating agreement unless your
referral sources required it. When you become participating, you must take
assignment on all Medicare transactions, even if the payment is lower than
your cost. When you are non-participating, you can decide to take assignment
or have the customer pay and then submit to Medicare non-assigned. Joe
