Default Bussiness is slow..

Between the challenges for HME companies due to reimbursement cuts and
competitive bidding, it is difficult for HME companies to invest in a full
marketing program. This includes at least a part-time marketing
representative, active media advertising based on your location, event
marketing (Health Fairs, conferences, etc.) all in a planned yearly program.

I don't know your size (assuming you are referral-based and not retail) but I can't imagine getting a steady flow of business without a full-time sales rep. You may be able to find someone willing to work part-time intitially - maybe a laid off pharmaceutical rep - but without a constant sales effort - calling on hospital discharge planners, MDs, etc., people will forget about you.

You need to find someone who is "in" with a big referral group. For example, our star sales rep is very good friends with the discharge planners and case managers for a few big hospitals and physicians groups. Her kids are in school with their kids. They get together on weekends. They even take vacations together. And as a result, she brings in TONS of referrals. Just remember - its not about product knowledge, clinical knowledge, flyers/brochures, or any big sales/product presentation - its about personal relationships with the people who send referrals. If you don't have a personal relationship then you're just getting table scraps if you're getting anything at all.
