Default Moving Furniture

I'm having a rash of this lately to a point where I want to get opinions from you folks. I have held a firm stance that we will not move any furniture what so ever to put beds in homes. Are any of you moving furniture for people and if so do you have some kind of waiver they are signing and you charge them to do so? Thanks in advance!

It's easy to hold firm stance when you're not looking the person in the eye.
Our drivers just didn't have the heart to turn down elderly/disabled people
and ended up doing it on sly. So, we've changed our position.

We tell them up front they need to make room. If we get there and furniture
isn't moved, we do it for the sake of good customer service. We tell them we
won't be responsible for any damage - we don't require a waiver. Our drivers
will ask to use their towels/blankets or whatever is needed to slide
furniture. Surprisingly we've never had an issue. These people are stranded
and just so grateful for the kindness.

We have this problem a lot. If they persist, we will tell them there will be a charge. That usually stops them. We do a lot of seat lift chairs through the PA MA waiver program, and people even expect us to dispose of their old chairs! We have actually had the waiver program pay us a few times to move furniture and also to dispose of it.
We're not Raymour & Flanigan!

I agree that it is hard to hold a firm stance when you are looking the person in the eye, but a lot of the people who expect it in our area tend to be demanding, so it's not to hard to turn them down. I know that our drivers have done it a few times for regular customers. It can be a liability, though.
