Default M6 Remark Code

You must furnish and service this item for as long as the patient continues to need it. We can pay for maintenance and/or servicing for every 6 month period after the end of the 15th paid rental month or the end of the warranty period.

I know we have discussed the new rental period at the end of what Medicare terms "Reasonable Useful Lifetime" of the concentrator. What I am wondering is how does remark code affect this? Does Medicare / CMS have the authority to demand that we leave the concentrator in the home beyond the 60 months?

No. The five year useful lifetime definition would prohibit this.
