Default When You Buy Another DME Company

I'm possibly going to start the process of acquiring a local competitor's DME Business and wanted to know from those that have done this already what you need to make sure to do with Medicare, State, etc... I would like to try to keep the name that the company has but bill under my exsisting dme company name and number. What is the best way to structure things through medicare to be able to do this? Any input on this would be appreciated.

I would recommend that you hire a good healthcare attorney to help you structure this deal. They are worth their weight in gold when things don't go as expected. (Most of the time ) Let me know if you would like the names of some that I have used in the past.

Instead of buying you may look for a group of doctors. Doctors can register with Medicare as a DMEPOS supplier. The application is 39 pages and there are some great advantages for doctors who register. Registering as a DMEPOS supplier the doctors can write the Rx, deliver the equipment and bill insurance. Most doctors do not want the work of being a DME supplier. I suggest you make an offer to form a relation ship with the doctor that you will handle the DME. A practice with 7 to 10 doctors can produce a great income for everyone. The application can be done without help. There are billers that are assisting health care professionals for a fee ranging from $450 - 800. I know of one in Mich that has been working with chiropractors and DO's
